Loving me some Chick-Fil-A

Seriously, who doesn't love Chick-Fil-A?! Last year we met a family who has now become dear friends. We followed along as they anxiously waited through the adoption process to bring home their daughter LingLi. They shared that Chick-Fil-A will generously support fundraising for adoptive families. We followed in their footsteps and asked our family and friends to come have dinner with us. In the adoption community, there are two somewhat opposite and extreme thoughts regarding fundraising. Many people would share that they are able to meet the day to day needs of an additional family member but are deterred by the 'shipping and handling' expense part of adoption. I would have to say we fall somewhere in between. In this case, I had no trouble inviting our friends and family to eat dinner out!

One ongoing prayer that Steve and I have is that our family is a light to the Lord. For those of you who know Liam, he is of few words but is full of joy that comes bubbling over. We were so moved this particular night as many of the staff from his teachers, many paras, administrative staff and even his private speech therapist came to celebrate bringing Kinley home. It is clear that they have been touched by him in many ways.

When the night was over we left (partly because the tornado sirens were going off) in quite an emotional state. Earlier in the day we had learned our travel approval had been received by our agency. During dinner we knew we were only waiting on the confirmation of our consulate appointment. To have so many people who believe in and support our adoption was powerful. God is good...all of the time.
